byers realty was incorporated in 1980 with barbara byers listed as managing broker. after working for several different companies and receiving her brokers license in 1977, she decided to start her own firm based on the "golden rule " and service to others. at the time of inception, barbara was a divorced mother with two small sons and saw real estate as a way to support her family. very few women were brokers, let alone company owners at that time in dekalb county. today, the company is equally owned and managed by barbara and her son, blaine byers. blaine has received many awards for top sales, including the top 2% nationwide while affiliated with coldwell banker. both owners are life members of the million dollar club along with awards from the national association of home builders for both achievement and recognition of sales in new home construction.
